All Alfaro did in this fall is taking his #TheLegend status to a whole new level. The highly regarded catching monster hit .386/.438/.500 with 6 doubles, a triple, drew 5 walks while striking out 17 times in 70 AB. His batting average was the 2nd best in the league, only behind Angels’ C.J. Cron, who hit .413 during the fall.
He made all those who watched the Championship Game develope a man crush on him by doing these things.
Brett Nicholas
Nicholas had a breakout campaign at AA Frisco in 2013, where he hit .289/.357/.474 with 21 HR. But his AFL stint went rather mediocre. He posted a .230/.273/.393 slash with a HR, 11 K/3 BB in 61 AB in this fall.
Although he showed his presence in the Fall Star Game, where he went 3 for 4 with a couple long balls. Below are GIFs of those home runs in the game.
Like Nicholas, Rua earned himself prospect status by hitting 32 bombs and slashing .247/.347/.525 between low-A and AA.
Like Nicholas, Rua’s fall didn’t go well either. He posted a .175/.268/.365, drew 7 walks while striking out 24 times in 63. But he did hit 4 home runs, including a grand slam, that ranked 3rd most in the league.
Lisalverto Bonilla
Bonilla was a late add to Surprise’s roster as an other organization’s arm got injured. Bonilla didn’t give up a run while his time in Arizona, gave up 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8 in just 5 innings pitched. His fastball averaged 93.34 MPH during the stint.
Ryan Harvey
Harvey appeared in only 3 games, then got replaced by Kela on October 21st. During his short AFL time, the 22-year old right hander gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, struck out 6 while walking 2 in 3.1 innings.
Keone Kela
Kela replaced Harvey on the roster on October 21. He drew scouts’ attention by flashing heaters. His fastball averaged 97.36 MPH during the fall, which was faster than any other pitcher in the league. He gave up 5 hits, a run (not earned), piled up 10 strikeouts, walked 5 in 8.2 innings in his 7 AFL outings.
Will Lamb
Lamb’s struggling 2013 continued in the land of Arizona. The former Clemson Tiger coughed up a 5.17 ERA in 69.2 innings for Myrtle Beach in the 2013 regular season.
In his time with the Saguaros, the number in his “runs allowed” column only went higher and higher. He gave up at least 2 runs in each of his 6 AFL starts. In half of them, he gave up 5 in no longer than 2.2 innings.
Overall, the 23-year old left hander gave up 29 hits, 22 runs (19 earned), walked almost twice as many (19) as he struck out (10) in 19.2 innings. His ERA was miserable 8.69.
Nick McBride
McBride, who split time between Myrtle Beach and Frisco in 2013, spent a rough time in Arizona in this fall. The 22 years old right hander gave up 12 runs (10 earned), 21 hits, 2 HR, struck out 9 while walking 8.
Matt West
West got back to game action for the first time since he underwent Tommy John surgery in August 2012. The former 3rd baseman-turned-to-flamethrower gave up 12 hits, 4 runs, a HR, struck out 10 while walking 7 in 9.2 innings. His fastball averaged 93.34 miles per hour during the fall.
